Boeing to launch third Italian radar satellite

Delta 2 launch file photo (Boeing) Boeing has won a contract to launch the third in a series of Italian radar remote sensing satellites. Under the contract a Delta 2 will launch the Cosmo-Skymed 3 spacecraft from Vandenberg Air Force Base in 2008. Boeing already had contracts to launch the first two spacecraft in the series; the first was launched in June and the second will be launched late this year. The Cosmo-Skymed spacecraft carry radar mappers designed for both civil and military applications.
