ISS crew completes spacewalk
Posted: Fri, Aug 4, 2006, 6:39 AM ET (1039 GMT) Two astronauts performed a six-hour spacewalk outside the International Space Station on Thursday that was so productive that they were able to perform several additional tasks. NASA astronaut Jeff Williams and German astronaut Thomas Reiter spent five hours and 54 minutes outside the ISS on Thursday, starting at 9:04 am EDT (1304 GMT). the two quickly performed the scheduled list of major tasks for the EVA, including installing experiments on the station's exterior, repairing equipment, and testing an infrared camera. Completing those tasks ahead of schedule, the two also performed a number of minor "get-ahead" tasks originally planned for future spacewalks. The third member of the Expedition 13 crew, Pavel Vinogradov, remained inside the ISS during the EVA.
