Falcon 1 on pad at Omelek Island (SpaceX) The first launch of SpaceX's Falcon 1 small launch vehicle has been postponed again after unspecified technical problems were discovered during a countdown rehearsal. SpaceX had planned to launch Falcon 1 from Kwajalein Atoll in the Pacific Ocean on Friday afternoon (US time), after performing a countdown test Thursday afternoon. However, in a statement posted on the company web site Thursday evening, SpaceX said that "After analyzing data from the static fire countdown, we decided to postpone the launch." The company promised to provide more details behind that decision once the company had "thoroughly checked out all systems". SpaceX estimates that it will be two to four weeks before they will make their next launch attempt. The Falcon 1, a new low-cost small launcher, will launch the Falconsat 2 smallsat for the US Air Force Academy on this inaugural flight.
