Russia approves 10-year space plan

Kliper mockup (PhotoCenter.ru) The Russian space agency Roskosmos announced Tuesday that the Russian government has given its approval to a ten-year plan that includes the development of a new manned spacecraft. The Federal Space Program for 2006-2015 endorses the development of Kliper, a six-person reusable manned spacecraft that is designed to replace the Soyuz. Also included in the program are the development of the Soyuz-2 and Angara launch vehicles, replenishment of the GLONASS satellite navigation system, and a robotic mission to the Martian moon Phobos.
