Delta 2 launch delayed
Posted: Fri, Nov 5, 2004, 8:24 AM ET (1324 GMT)
Delta 2 launch of GPS 2R-12 (Boeing) The launch of a GPS satellite on a Delta 2 has been postponed 24 hours because of a combination of ground and computer problems. The Delta 2 7925 was scheduled to lift off from Cape Canaveral at 12:43 am EST (0543 GMT), but was initially delayed when problems developed with a ground transmitter. The problem was corrected and the launch rescheduled for the end of the launch window, 1:11 am EST (0611 GMT), but the countdown stopped at T-43 seconds because of a database problem in a launch computer system. The launch has been rescheduled for Saturday at 12:39 am EST (0539 GMT); weather is not anticipated to be an issue. The launch of the Delta 2, carrying the GPS 2R-13 satellite, has been delayed over a month because of the effects of two hurricanes as well as more recent technical problems.
