Intelsat announces IPO plans
Posted: Thu, Feb 5, 2004, 2:47 PM ET (1947 GMT)
Satellite communications company Intelsat announced Wednesday that it is planning to conduct a limited public offering of stock by the end of June, in accordance with US law. Intelsat said that it will carry out an initial public offering (IPO) of up to $500 million in stock in the company by June 30. That date is the deadline set by the ORBIT Act, legislation passed into law in 2000 as part of the privatization of Intelsat and Inmarsat. The original bill called for an Intelsat IPO by 2001, but poor market conditions led the government to extend the deadline for the companies.
