Boeing gets ISS contract extension
Posted: Thu, Jan 1, 2004, 2:37 PM ET (1937 GMT)
ISS illustration (NASA) NASA awarded Boeing on Wednesday an extension to an existing contract to cover assembly and support for the International Space Station. The extension to the On-Orbit Acceptance and Vehicle Sustaining services contract covers two years and nine months with a potential value of $1 billion. Four six-months options are also available that, if exercised, could bring the total contract value to over $1.6 billion. The contract is part of an ongoing restructuring of station contracts designed to consolidate the array of station work into a smaller number of contracts. Boeing has served as prime contractor for the US segment of the ISS for the last several years.
