Progress docks with ISS

Progress spacecraft on approach to ISS (NASA) A Russian Progress cargo spacecraft successfully docked with the International Space Station late Saturday. The Progress M-48 spacecraft, called Progress 12 by NASA, docked with the station at 11:40 pm EDT Saturday (0340 GMT Sunday), five minutes ahead of schedule. The Progress is carrying over 2,500 kilograms of food, water, propellant, and other supplies for the two-man Expedition 7 crew, as well as some supplies that will be used by the Expedition 8 crew scheduled for launch in October. Included on the Progress was an Iridium satellite telephone that the Expedition 7 crew will carry with them when then return to Earth in October, in the event the Soyuz lands off-course, as happened in May, and the crew needs to contact mission control. Also included on the Soyuz was a DVD of the recently-released special edition of the movie The Right Stuff, autographed by members of the cast as well as Chuck Yeager.
