Delta 4 first launch vehicle (Boeing) The launch of a Delta 4 carrying a military payload has been delayed to accommodate delays related to the shuttle Columbia tragedy. The Delta 4, scheduled to lift off from Cape Canaveral on February 7, has been delayed at least three days. Boeing said that the delay stemmed from a work "stand-down" at the Cape last weekend in the immediate aftermath of the Columbia accident. The Delta 4 is carrying the Defense Satellite Communications System (DSCS) A3 spacecraft. The launch will be the second for the Delta 4 and the first military launch of an Evolved Expendable Launch Vehicle (EELV) booster.
