Alcatel Space announced Friday that it has won a contract to build the payload for a Chinese communications satellite. Alcatel said it will provide the payload module for the DFH 4 communications satellite; the Chinese Academy of Space Technology (CAST) will integrate the payload into the satellite, which CAST is building. The spacecraft, scheduled for launch on a Long March booster in 2005, will be operated by APT to provide TV, radio, and other telecommunications services.
