Robert Forward passes away
Posted: Tue, Sep 24, 2002, 7:47 AM ET (1147 GMT) Noted scientist and futurist Robert Forward died Saturday of brain cancer at the age of 70. Forward published over 200 papers on research topics related to space travel, including solar sails, laser sails, tethers, and antimatter. Forward cofounded Tethers Unlimited in 1994 to commercialize tethers for space propulsion. Forward was also a well-regarded author of 11 science fiction novels, including Dragon's Egg.
