4th of July Celebration: Friends of Pembroke Council on Aging will host its annual 4th of July Celebration with an Indoor Picnic at 12:30 p.m., on Wednesday July 1. Entertainment will be provided by Jack Craig who will sing some of his favorite songs and share history of these songs. Call Pembroke COA to sign up. There is a $6 donation requested per person.
Chair Yoga: In celebration of Chair Yoga’s third anniversary, instructor Rita Whooley will offer a complimentary class at 9:30 a.m., on Tuesday July 13, at Pembroke Council on Aging. Chair Yoga is gentle and needs no previous experience, it also incorporates Tai Chi, strength conditioning, balance and meditation.
Hydration discussion: On Wednesday July 8, at 12:30 p.m., Hilary Troia of Home Instead Senior Care, Pembroke, will facilitate a discussion on Hydration, Why it is Important. Hydration A fun an interactive program where attendees can sample natural flavored waters and foods that are high in water content. Learn tips on how to consume the recommended amounts of water and get into this healthy habit, and what are the signs of dehydration and how to prevent heat stroke.
Fraud and Scam discussion: On Wednesday, July15, at 12:30 p.m., Taylor Roy from the Better Business Bureau will facilitate a discussion on Fraud and Scams. This presentation will cover the most common scams currently circulating the community, the major red flags to watch out for, and the tactics consumers can use to protect themselves and their identity. There will be a review of phone calls, mail, email and door-to-door scams.
Ice Cream Social: Wednesday, July 22, at 12:30 p.m., the Ice Cream Social will be sponsored by The Royal of Norwell Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Carol Mulken will host.
Reverse Mortgage discussion: On Wednesday, July 29, at 12:30 p.m., David Tourtillott, CRMP of Homestead Mortgage, will host an educational workshop on the Federally Insured Reverse Mortgage Program and how to use it to age in place or to downsize, upsize or right-size. Join him for coffee and discussion. After the presentation there will be an opportunity to meet with Tourtillott individually.
