White House releases national space strategy
Posted: Sun, Apr 1, 2018, 9:20 AM ET (1320 GMT) The White House announced a new National Space Strategy March 23 that fits into the administration's "America First" policies. The strategy, which itself was not released, features four "essential pillars" that include development of resilient space architectures, strengthening deterrence and warfighting options in space, improving "foundational capabilities, structures, and processes" and creation of "conducive" environments for commercial and international partnerships. The strategy emphasizes that space has become a "warfighting domain" and states that any international cooperation must "put the interests of American people, workers, and businesses first." Development of the strategy was discussed at the first two public meetings of the National Space Council by H.R. McMaster, the outgoing National Security Advisor.
